Opening hours and public holidays
Store opening hours in Austria are regulated by law.
Opening hours
Usual grocery store opening hours are Mon - Fri from 8:00 am - 7:00 pm (sometimes also 6:00, 6.30 or 7:30 pm) and Sat from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm. The grocery store at the Innsbruck train station is open daily from Monday to Sunday from 07:00 - 21:00. The grocery store at the Innsbruck hospital area (Anichstraße 35) is also open on Sunday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Likewise some bakeries and tourist stores are open on Sunday. Food can also be bought at gas stations.
Restaurants, museums (usually closed on Mondays) and various service providers often have a closing day during the week. Hairdressers, for example, are almost always closed on Mondays. To be on the safe side, check the opening hours before you visit.
