Discovering nature together and creating memorable moments.
Have you recently moved to Tyrol from abroad and are now working at a Tyrolean company or university?
We are delighted to have you here and would like to warmly invite you to another event organized by the Welcome Service Tirol:
On 19 June 2026, we will be hosting an after-work hike to the Umbrüggler Alm, a modern and architecturally striking alpine hut. Starting at 4:00 p.m., we will set off together with our hiking guide from near Planötzenhof and make our way through the beautiful natural surroundings above Innsbruck. The ascent partly leads through the forest, but mostly follows a wide gravel road and takes approximately 1.5 hours. It offers wonderful views and provides an excellent opportunity to connect and network with other international professionals in a relaxed atmosphere.
Arriving at the Umbrüggler Alm, we enjoy a cozy break in a stunning architectural alpine hut, delicious food, and breathtaking panoramic views.
Please note that appropriate equipment, particularly sturdy hiking boots, is required for participation in the hike. For more information, please see the event information below.

Registration
Please register yourself and/or your partner online by June 10, 2026. As places are limited, early registration is recommended.
This invitation from the Welcome Service Tirol is aimed at highly qualified professionals, scientists and researchers who have recently moved to Tirol from abroad to live here long-term or permanently and who work for a Tyrolean company or university. Any remaining places will be allocated to people who have already been in the country for some time. We are delighted that you have moved to Tyrol and would like to help you settle in as quickly and comfortably as possible!
Please note that participation is only possible after receiving written confirmation from Welcome Service Tirol. We would also like to politely point out that people whose registration has been confirmed but who do not attend the event without canceling their registration cannot be considered for further events.
Risk and Responsibility/ Insurance coverage/ Legal Notice
Participation is at your own risk. Participants are responsible for ensuring that they have sufficient and valid insurance coverage, which must in particular include rescue and evacuation costs (e.g., mountain rescue operations or helicopter evacuations). Without appropriate coverage, high costs may arise in an emergency, even during non high‑alpine hikes.
The Standortagentur Tirol accepts no liability for any property damage arising in connection with the event, except in cases of gross negligence or intent. Liability for personal injury remains unaffected to the extent required by mandatory law.
Furthermore, the Standortagentur Tirol is not liable for any damage caused to participants by other participants, or for damage that participants may cause to others.
Difficulty level, Physical Requirements and Equipment
The tour is classified as easy to moderately difficult and is therefore generally suitable for recreational athletes. As the trail leads steadily uphill (approx. 400 metres of elevation gain), a sufficient level of physical fitness and a certain degree of stamina are required. Appropriate equipment is also a prerequisite for participating in the hike.
Essential equipment for this hike includes sturdy hiking boots (advice is available in sporting goods stores), weather‑appropriate clothing, sun protection, sufficient drinking water and snacks.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Welcome Service Tirol team.
Weather
Please note that the hike can only be carried out in appropriate weather. Should it be necessary to cancel the hike due to bad weather, all participants will be informed by email.
Arrival
Getting there by public transport is easily possible – please refer to the VVT route planner.
Please note, however, that the bus only runs as far as the Sadrach stop. From there, you will need to walk uphill for approximately 25 minutes to reach the Planötzenhof. From the bus stop, first follow the road uphill towards Planötzenhof. After a few minutes, you can turn left onto a slightly higher forest path. This route has the advantage of avoiding road traffic, making your walk safer. Follow the well-signposted path, which leads directly to the Planötzenhof.
Travelling by car is generally possible up to the starting point of the hike, the parking area at the access road to Planötzenhof (navigation destination: “Gasthaus Planötzenhof”). However, parking spaces may be limited at times.
Children
Unfortunately, the hike is not suitable for children.
