Financial Benefits for Families

In Austria, there are various financial benefits and tax advantages available to families who meet the relevant requirements.

Well-known examples include Childcare Allowance ("Kinderbetreuungsgeld"), Family Allowance ("Familenbeihilfe"), and Family Bonus Plus ("Familienbonus Plus").

Whether a person/family is actually entitled to a specific financial benefit or tax advantage must always be examined on a case-by-case basis. Entitlement does not always exist. In some cases (e.g., certain cross-border situations), it may also be that a country other than Austria is responsible for granting a particular financial benefit, or that both Austria and another country are responsible (to varying degrees) for granting it. Anyone moving to Tyrol should also clarify their tax situation as early as possible (preferably before moving).

Financial support for families is available in Austria at various levels. In addition to financial family benefits, which can be applied for throughout Austria if the requirements are met, there are also certain financial benefits granted by the federal states (in this case Tyrol) and by certain institutions (e.g., AMS Tirol). These are, of course, also subject to very specific requirements.

Austrian tax advisors and lawyers offer binding and comprehensive advice. Various service centers are available to answer specific questions and provide initial advice free of charge.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have! If we do not already have the relevant information, we will be happy to find out which service center or service provider can advise you!

Prohibition of domestic violence

Important information on the protection of women and children in Austria

Domestic violence is explicitly prohibited by law in Austria. A federal law exists to protect all individuals, particularly women and children, from violence by relatives. The upbringing of children in Austria must be entirely free from violence and abuse. Physical punishment is strictly forbidden, as are all other forms of abuse, including emotional suffering and sexual abuse.

Violations are regularly prosecuted and punished (including imprisonment). There are also various institutions that victims of domestic violence can turn to for confidential advice!
